What is a dyno bench

A dynamometer bench (dyno) is equipment that measures an engine's real output: power in horsepower and torque at every rpm. The car is secured on the bench rollers, accelerated under load, and sensors take readings thousands of times per second to build the graphs.

The result is objective numbers and a power curve — not a "feels fast / feels slow" impression.

For an accurate and safe measurement, check the following before your visit:

  • Non-studded tires with no more than 50% wear
  • At least 50% fuel in the tank
  • No leaking fluids
  • Normal tire pressure and sound suspension
  • The car must be clean
  • Let the technician know about any modifications and issues

Every bench calculates power a little differently. "Before" and "after" measurements must be done on the same bench — that's the only way the comparison is objective. We automatically account for atmospheric conditions so the numbers are honest regardless of the weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the measurement safe for my car?
Yes. The measurement is done under an operator's supervision, and the full-load phase lasts only 10–30 seconds. The car is securely strapped down, and the bench has a cooling airflow system. Before the measurement we check the car's clearance.
How many runs are included in one measurement?
A standard session includes up to 4–5 runs — enough for a stable, repeatable result. Repeat runs without removing the car from the bench are available at a reduced price.
What do I get to take with me after the measurement?
A detailed power and torque graph, a report with specific numbers (hp, Nm) and, if needed, a before/after tuning comparison. We can provide the file in print or as a PDF.
How is a dyno bench measurement different from chip tuning?
A measurement is diagnostics: we only measure the real power and torque without changing anything in the car. Chip tuning is a firmware modification to add power. Measurements are often done before and after chip tuning to see the real gains.
Is the service suitable for all-wheel drive cars (4WD, Haldex)?
Yes. Our bench supports any type of drivetrain — front, rear and all-wheel drive, including the Haldex coupling, thanks to axle synchronization.
Why is it important to do "before" and "after" measurements on the same bench?
Every bench calculates power a little differently. Only gains measured "before" and "after" on the same equipment under comparable conditions are objective.
How accurate are the results?
Our bench's margin of error is no more than 0,1%. The electronics automatically account for atmospheric conditions (temperature, pressure, humidity) so the numbers are honest regardless of the weather.
What are the requirements for the car before a measurement?
Non-studded tires with no more than 50% wear, no fluid leaks, at least 50% fuel in the tank, normal tire pressure, sound suspension. Let the technician know in advance about any modifications and issues.
How long does the measurement take?
A single measurement, including mounting and removing the car from the bench, takes up to 1 hour. A comparative before/after measurement is scheduled separately.
